Just like the donkey with carrot, I myself have had a goal and destination for the curriculum in this class. While I started off in this class without an open mind and brushing things off in a slacking manner, tables have turned and I put on my thinking cap and got to work. With the amont of evidence I have to show, it will be easy to determine the grade I should recieve, an A.
Now there were times when I didn't go above and beyond, and I'll be honest, there were also times when my performance what basically fine, or could've done better but coming to class late, sleeping, maybe not participating in group discussions and listening to my ipod is all behind me now and I only have progress to show for it.
If you wanted to take a gander at my blog, you'd notice that every post is present, and behind each post, is the hardwork that was put into it, whether it started off with miniscule ideas and a pen to some scracth paper, it ended with the project posted at 12:47 a.m. but the experience and knowledge of the assignment under my belt.
Whenever I heard about poetry my first thoughts were always William Shakespeare, or "roses are red, violets are blue...." But with all of the work we've done in class not only about sonnets but villanelles too, it expanded my horizons and I learned to really break them down and think outside the box while drifting away form the norm.
All of the pieces of art displayed in the classroom and being asked to analyze them have helped teach me to use my imagination and accept everyones thoughts and ideas. Overall I'd say this year in the classroom has not only revitalized my previous knowledge but it allowed me to work on some things I needed practice with as well as take the time to really go in depth with my work. And I think that is what makes me go above and beyond...
